Biography

Dr. Roman Kokaia is a vascular surgeon with extensive training in Georgia and abroad. He graduated from Tbilisi State Medical University and went on to complete residencies in general surgery at the National Medical Center named after Acad. O. Ghudushauri in Tbilisi, and in vascular surgery at the North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov in Saint Petersburg. He further advanced his expertise in vascular surgery at the St. Michael the Archangel Clinical Hospital in Tbilisi.

Dr. Kokaia has worked in several leading hospitals and clinics, gaining experience across emergency medicine, general and pediatric surgery, and vascular surgery. Since 2024, he has been practicing as a vascular surgeon at multiple clinics in Tbilisi, including Caraps Medline, where he currently serves as Head of the Vascular Surgery Department.

He actively participates in scientific research and has published papers on vascular surgery, including studies on carotid surgery outcomes and acute arterial thrombosis management.

His main areas of expertise include: • Diagnosis and treatment of arterial and venous diseases • Carotid and peripheral vascular surgery • Endovascular and open surgical techniques • Preventive vascular health and long-term patient care
